The ABRAF - BRAZILIAN FLUTE ASSOCIATION -

Is a non-profit organization founded on August 10, 1994.

The ABRAF was created with the purpose of:

  • congregate the Brazilian flutists,
  • stimulate the study of flute in Brazil,
  • collect and reveal Brazilian flute music,
  • promote festivals, meetings, masterclasses, competitions and concerts, involving flutists from Brazil and abroad,
  • promote the edition and composition of Brazilian flutemusic.

The ABRAF also distributes gratuitously to all associate members the official quarterly newsletter Pattapio (named after one of the most celebrated Brazilian flutists, who lived from 1880 to1907 and is the author of famous compositions such as "Primeiro amor", "Zinha" and "Margarida"). "Pattapio" contains articles, announcements and classified ads.
